I think I understand what the authors were trying to do, but they superbly missed the mark. Numerous electronic books and tablets are driving paper versions out of the market. It's a Michael Bay movie for the last third of the story, from the whole world blowing up to the story taking logical leaps that leave the characters by the wayside.
To me, it felt like Chris Claremont wanted to prove that a comic book writer knew a lot of words.
